Minecraft is a great learning tool. Some people may think that it is just a game. Yes, it is fun, but there are so many skills required to build world.

To me, it is computer aided design. It is also the future. Expect more future resources to built around Virtual Reality (in fact, it already exists).

Before you pay money, it is worth knowing one or two things. If you have an Office 365 account, that will give you free access to Minecraft Education education. How excellent is that?

Minecraft Classic

Another way to play Minecraft for free, is to play the original classic version which is online.

Yes, it is an old version. Yes, it is 10 years old. However, if you are new to Minecraft, it may just be a great place to start. No account is needed. Just click and play.

The controls work a bit differently from newer versions.

Controls:

W = Forward; A = Left, S = Backwards, D = Right, Space = Jump

Use your mouse to rotate

Right Click mouse to toggle between build and destroy block

Left Click mouse to destory or build block

B = Build

If you have never played Minecraft before, now is the time to start. Put some time aside. This will pay off. If you are a teacher it will give you an understanding of students’ psyche.
